Terms of Service

Last updated: October 7, 2026. For accounts created before this date, the changes in this version take effect on November 6, 2026.

These Terms govern your use of Orbit, including the website orbit-lab.space, the Orbit macOS app, the Orbit PDF Reader browser extension, and related services (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Baek Doojin, an individual in the Republic of Korea, under the trading name dlab ("we", "us"). Contact: orbit.lab.service@gmail.com.

1. Agreement

By creating an account, signing in (including with Google), or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Refund Policy, which forms part of them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

  • You must be at least 14 years old to create an account.
  • If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need the consent of a parent or legal guardian before making a purchase.
  • Keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account and must tell us promptly about any unauthorized use.
  • You may not create multiple accounts to obtain promotional credits.

3. The Service

Orbit provides PDF reading, annotation and notes, and AI features such as document chat, translation, and citation previews. We may add, change, or remove features for maintenance, security, legal compliance, or product reasons. We will tell you in advance about changes that significantly affect paid features. If we discontinue the Service or a paid feature, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund unused paid credits as described in the Refund Policy.

4. Generative AI Features

  • Orbit's AI features use generative AI models from third-party providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and DeepSeek), accessed through OpenRouter. Answers, translations, summaries, and other outputs of these features are generated by AI.
  • AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated, and it can describe or cite a document incorrectly. Check important information against the original document. AI output is not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
  • When you use an AI feature, the content it needs, such as document text, page images, your question, and selected text, is sent to these providers as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI models.
  • You must not use AI features to create unlawful content or in violation of the model providers' usage policies.

5. Paid Plans, Credits, and Billing

5.1 Merchant of record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders, and Paddle's buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Paddle handles payment, taxes, invoices, and refunds. Prices are listed in US dollars; Paddle may show and charge your local currency, and it shows applicable taxes and the final total before you pay. For billing questions you can contact Paddle or us.

5.2 Credits

  • Credits are prepaid units for AI features; 1,000 credits correspond to US$1 of credit balance. The credits a request uses depend on the model you choose and the amount of content processed, and every use is listed in your usage history. Translation is free and uses no credits, within fair-use limits.
  • Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and can be refunded only as described in the Refund Policy.
  • Promotional credits, such as welcome credits, are free, may be limited to one per person or device, and are not refundable.
  • If we change the credits a feature uses in a way that is less favorable to you, we will announce the change at least 30 days in advance.

5.3 Subscriptions

  • Subscriptions (Light, Pro, Pro+) are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until you cancel.
  • Each billing period includes the plan's monthly credits. Unused monthly credits expire at the end of the billing period and do not roll over.
  • Changing plans charges the new plan's full price at once and starts a new monthly period. Your remaining monthly credits become one-time credits that do not expire.
  • You can cancel at any time from your dashboard (Cancel subscription). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: you keep the plan until then and are not charged again.
  • If a renewal payment fails, the plan's monthly credits are suspended until the payment succeeds.
  • We will notify you at least 30 days before a price increase applies to your subscription and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the new price applies.

5.4 Credit packs

Credit packs are one-time purchases. Their credits are added after payment and do not expire.

5.5 Refunds and chargebacks

Refunds follow our Refund Policy: unused credits from a credit pack can be refunded within 90 days of purchase, and the unused share of a subscription payment within 14 days. When a payment is refunded or charged back, the credits it granted are removed from your balance, and credits from it that were already spent may be deducted from your remaining balance. We may suspend paid features on accounts with unresolved chargebacks or abusive refund requests.

6. Your Content

  • You keep all rights to the documents, notes, and other content you use with Orbit. You give us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, transmit, and transform your content only to provide and secure the Service, including sending it to AI providers when you use AI features.
  • Your documents, notes, and chat history are stored on your device. Orbit's servers do not keep copies of your documents.
  • You are responsible for having the rights to the content you use with Orbit.

7. Acceptable Use

  • Do not use Orbit for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive activity.
  • Do not infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
  • Do not get around usage limits, billing, or promotional rules, for example by creating multiple accounts or altering device identifiers.
  • Do not resell or share access to your account or its credits.
  • Do not upload malware or try to disrupt, probe, or bypass the Service's protections.
  • Do not reverse engineer Orbit, except where the law allows it.

8. Third-Party Services

Orbit relies on third-party providers, including Google (Firebase), Vercel, Paddle, OpenRouter, and the AI model providers OpenRouter routes to. Their outages, policy changes, or latency may affect the Service, and their own terms may apply to your use of them.

9. Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion

  • We may suspend or end your access, with notice where reasonably possible, for violations of these Terms, abuse, security risks, legal requirements, or unpaid charges.
  • You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the dashboard. Deleting your account cancels any subscription immediately and permanently deletes your remaining credits and usage history, so request any refund you are entitled to before deleting your account.

10. Intellectual Property and Infringement Reports

Orbit software, branding, and service content belong to us or our licensors. These Terms grant you only a limited right to use the Service.

If you believe content in Orbit infringes your copyright or other rights, write to orbit.lab.service@gmail.com with (a) your name and contact details, (b) the work you own, (c) the material you believe infringes it and where it is, (d) a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized, and (e) a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

11. Warranties

We work to keep Orbit available and working well, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or suit your purpose. To the extent permitted by law, we make no other warranties.

12. Liability

We are liable for damages caused by our intentional misconduct or negligence, as the law provides. Unless we acted intentionally or with gross negligence, we are not liable for:

  • damages caused by your own fault, such as sharing your account or relying on AI output without checking it;
  • outages or failures of networks, payment processors, AI providers, or other third-party services that we could not reasonably prevent;
  • natural disasters and other events beyond our reasonable control; or
  • indirect or special damages, such as lost profits or data, that we could not reasonably have foreseen.

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability or consumer right that the law does not allow to be limited.

13. Claims Caused by You

If a third party makes a claim against us because of content you used, or because you broke these Terms intentionally or negligently, you are responsible for the resulting damages to the extent permitted by law.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes are heard by the Seoul Central District Court. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings where the mandatory law of your country allows, and that law's jurisdiction rules apply; for consumers in Korea, the court for the consumer's address has jurisdiction under the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce. Consumers in Korea may also apply for mediation to the Korea Consumer Agency or the E-Commerce Mediation Committee.

15. Changes to These Terms

We will post changes at least 7 days before they take effect, or at least 30 days before for changes that are less favorable to you, and notify you by email or in the app about material changes. If you keep using the Service after the effective date, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account.

16. General

  • If a provision is unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remains in effect.
  • Not enforcing a provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.
  • You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the Service, with notice to you.
  • We send notices to your account email address or show them in the app or on the website.
  • These Terms, the Refund Policy, and any terms shown at checkout are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • These Terms are available in English and Korean. For users in Korea the Korean version prevails; otherwise the English version prevails, unless the law of your country requires otherwise.
